Opening Hours: 2:00pm - 3:00pm and 5:00pm - 6:00pm

Reckoned as the first ethnology museum in Hong Kong concentrating on the living of people from different cultures around the world, the Museum of Ethnology shares the same vision and mission of Kerry Lake Egret Nature Park -- to provide quality, healthy, educational and leisure activities to Hong Kong people.

Through the thousand plus exhibits, visitors will have no difficulties in visualising our message and perspective - the intriguing relationship between human and nature. We will see how we human beings, with our wisdom and experiences accumulated over generations, can adapt to the harsh and unforgiving environment imposed by nature. Interestingly, this behavioural adaptation is nevertheless brought about by making use of what nature can offer us.

Early human beings started to use stone, animal bone and skin. Later, with the development of finer technology, they started to use wood, reed, bamboo, plant and animal fibre and clay. Human beings soon recognised their lack of power and rectified by using energy source provided by nature -- animal, hydropower and wind power. Efficient ways of tapping and utilising this power like lever and gear were subsequently developed.
